Alabama Door Hanger

If you remember from a few weeks ago, I did a post (Here!) on a different version of the elephant painting that I do a lot of for teachers.  This is a version that would look great as a door hanger.  I use two canvases, one to show your team spirit, and the other to display your name.  Okay - enough talking, here is the picture!

After I posted the picture on Facebook I realized that I put the canvas on a white door - well, we have a red door and it would have showed up a lot better on the red door!  But anyways, you get the idea!

The same person who ordered this canvas also really liked the Alabama dot painting.  Well she had an awesome idea, she asked if the canvas would work to put pins through, to hang pictures.  So, after discussing options, I told her I'd try it out on a piece of cork board.  I have never painted on cork board and I wasn't quite sure if it was going to work the same, but luckily, I think it turned out awesome and was such a great idea.

The one thing I probably love the most about this, is the frame.  The cork board I purchased, which was 17x23, had a wooden frame that already came with it, so I thought if I painted it black, it'd stick out more than a white or red frame.  A simple 2 for 1 deal!

Welcome

This is a large wooden plaque that I found on a clearance aisle at Old Time Pottery.  It was not a picture that I think anyone would hang in their house, so I primed it, painted it, and turned it into my own art.  I have fallen in love with this red color called "Tompte Red" by Ceramcoat.  I don't know why I am so drawn to this color but I find it to be beautiful! I have also fallen in love with the color scheme of red with blue and turquoise accent colors, so I thought I'd play with that color scheme a little.

I would have liked there to have been more turquoise, but the paper selection in that color was very limited.  But I still really like the blue and green tones with this red!

I cut out the hearts and the welcome with my Cricut and glued them on with ModPodge and then sealed it all up!  This is currently available at $25.

Witch's Hat

I am having so much fun working on these Holiday paintings!  Last year, I was still in school, so I didn't have time to have a Halloween and Christmas collection, so this year I am going all out!

Best Witches!

Anyone else ready to get rid of this hot weather and move onto some much cooler weather?  I am counting down the days until it is finally Fall!  While I am counting those days down, I am also working on some designs for the upcoming holidays.  (It is never too early to get those Christmas orders in!)

This is one of my newest Halloween designs.  It features a little witch's feet and her broom.  I had originally just painted the broom on there, but my newest love over mixed media inspired me to add something on there instead.  I used some left over orange raffia I had.  I folded it up, and secured it in the shape of a broom.  I poked 2 small holes in the canvas to put wire through to hold the broom in place.  I am so excited about this design because I love the broom!

I used my Cricut to cut out the saying "Best Witches."

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

Faith

Last night I got caught up in working on another piece.  This cross is made with paint, paper, cardboard, and sharpie marker.

I painted the canvas a sorbet green then added the orange polka dot paper.  The pink around the paper is hand painted.  For the cross, I cut a piece of cardboard and then covered it with the polka dot paper.

I cut "faith" using my cricut with a brown floral paper.  To add the final touches, I used the sharpie to outline!

This 11x14 is currently available for $15 and can also be done in any color combination with any words/names.

Paper Doodles

I have always loved mixed media art.  I love how you can add whatever you feel like - different textures, different dimensions, different materials.. Oh the possibilities!  Tonight I worked on my first mixed media piece.  Has anyone else noticed the mass numbers of owl decorations out there?  I have fallen victim of the owls - I have so many things that have owls on them and now I am adding 1 more!

On this piece, my materials included scrapbook paper, acrylic paint, sharpie marker, and cardboard.

I have a lot of ideas brewing with flowers, crosses, hearts, and so much more!  I hope to be able to work on some pieces this weekend if I get some time!

I think I am going to call my mixed media art collection..... Paper Doodles..

Summer Sale!

Well folks, summer is coming to an end. I am so ready for fall - football, cool weather, leaves changing, my niece being born...  I. Love. The. Fall.  To wrap up this summer, I am having a small Summer Sale of a collection of paintings.  I need to make some room in my collection for some new paintings coming up for the holidays.  I have included pictures, descriptions, and special prices on the pictures on Facebook.  There is only 1 of each painting, so it goes to the first commenter or emailer!  Check them out here!!

Elephants

Since these little elephants are my most popular, with the majority of them going to teachers, I thought I'd bring them into your home!  (Don't worry, I am also working on an Auburn design that I think you all will enjoy).

With football season just right around the corner, I thought these would make the perfect Alabama decor to hang on your door to show your team spirit!

This one is currently available and ready to be personalized!

Crayon Art

While browsing Pinterest for the millionth time, I found this neat idea.  It was so easy, simple, cheap, and awesome.  Who knew that melted crayons could make such awesome art!?

All you need to make this is: canvas, crayons, hot glue gun, and a blow dryer.

Now, I saw a few different versions of this - some people peeled the paper off of the crayons, and some people left it on - it is totally up to you
I chose to take the paper off.  Let me just tell you, my fingers are killing me.  Next time, I definitely think I will just leave the paper on - it will save time, not kill my fingers, and still look awesome!
The next step is to get your crayons in the pattern you plan on gluing them down.  Once you have your spacing and color pattern figured out, all you do next is glue each crayon.

Once the crayons are all glued on, I placed the canvas in the hot car for about 30 minutes, to let the crayons sweat and get soft.  The next and last step is the blow dryer.  I blasted it on the hottest and fastest setting and held a couple of inches away from the crayons.  They will start melting and begin creating your masterpiece!  All that is left is to find a funky colorful frame to put around it.  Off to the thrift store!...

Coasters are Awesome!

These coasters are so adorable!  I love them because they are fun, unique, and definitely an eye catcher.  You can customize them to match almost ANYTHING!  They make great handmade gifts and awesome decoration for those big football games coming up!
You all know how much of an Alabama fan I am, so I had to make an Alabama themed set.  Auburn lovers - don't hate me yet..I have come up with a new rule for myself..anything new I make for Alabama, I am going to make for Auburn as well.  So, stay on the lookout for an Auburn set!

They are made from 4x4 natural stone tiles and scrapbook paper.  They are finished  and protected, so they won't be ruined with a yummy drink sitting on top of them!  They are also backed with cork, so they won't make any scratches.

Get your customized set of coasters for $10, sit back, and enjoy that yummy drink!

Lexi & Lara

I am finally able to catch my breath after a month of CrAzInEsS!  Orders are caught up to date and I am  ready to add some more to the list - especially those football orders!

This painting was created for a great friend of mine, who I spent 2 years with in the Education College at UA.  She got a job in Tuscaloosa as a 3rd grade teacher and I could not be more excited for her!  I was so happy to make her a sign to hang outside her classroom door!

I was so excited for this order because I have not created a set of canvases for siblings yet.  These were made for a set of twin girls, to go in their newly remodeled room!  The request was purple and zebra print.

I decided to stick to the same pattern, just switching up the colors.

Now I think I am going to spend the rest of the night with Pinterest and Lifetime Movie Network!
